External Cladding

EXTERNAL CLADDING

As with the roof construction, in order to make the bulk of the building weathertight, external cladding (which may or may not include windows fully glazed prior to erection) was put in position at an early stage. Where necessary certain portions of the cladding are omitted at appropriate points to facilitate general access to the building and allow for the entry of other components for subsequent installation or assembly.

PRESSED STEEL WALL PANELS

The panels arrive on site fully finished (except on the internal face). The sequence of operations involved in their erection and installation is as follows:

The panels, which are fitted with metal fixing cleats, are hoisted or moved into position, and offered up to cleats fixed to the top and bottom members of the perimeter steel beams.

  1. Fixing bolts are hand tightened and secured from the inside of the building.
  2. Steel clips at the sides of the panels are then secured to the structural steel columns.
  3. When alignment has been checked all main fixings can finally be tightened up.
  4. The placing and fixing of column and floor/ceiling section cover panels.
  5. The insertion of weatherproof gaskets, pvc clip-on cover strips etc.
