DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION FEATURES
The hospital has been designed according to the "Oxford Method" (of which INSO is a licencee) and will be realized using mostly industrialized components integrated with traditional construction methodologies and materials. The supporting vertical structures are made of steel sections and pre-cast or poured reinforced concrete. In particular steel structures are used for all areas apart from stairs, lifts and floors both in wards and technological buildings. The building has an "L" shape as to follow the land conformation, so that general excavations works and their cost will be reduced as well as environmental chan-gings. The building spreads along a main corridor, Diagnostic services are located only on two floors, on the front of the building, while wards are located just opposite, in the rear part, on three floors in order to reduce the use of lifts. The Technological plants and the general services are located on separate but connected block, where there are also the canteen, the changing rooms and others.
