Component Replacement in New Matching 6M

Non-standardised Elements

6M standard construction details did not cover all building elements, a number of which were typically purpose-designed as job-specific details, albeit with respect for the 6M planning grid and with reasonable duplication between different projects.

Examples of non-standard elements include:

  • Main entrances: typically formed using proprietary metal-framed 'shop-front' glazed construction, and with added-on proprietary elements such as canopies.
  • Staircases: typically purpose-fabricated in welded construction with painted steel stringers, risers and treads, with ply facings
  • Liftshafts: formed as full-height masonry shafts in 140mm or similar blockwork
  • Rooftop and other plant enclosures: typically formed in blockwork masonry, overclad with Plannja on 'tophat' fixing profiles, and with local roof deck and finishes usually matching 6M roofs generally
