Asbestos in Oxford Method Buildings

     Ceilings

In September 1964 the first publication was issued on Oxford Method called 'Handbook of building Assembly'. It was decided to use asbestos insulation board as a ceiling and the following drawing shows the position and a description of its intended use.
Following completion of the main floor structure and the installation of any required conduits on the underside of the concrete ceiling slabs, asbestos insulation board ceiling panels may be fixed to battens on the soffit of the lightweight concrete planks.. As with the floors an infill strip is required on the line of the main transverse beams ("tartan")
